Working Out + Essential Oils

For two years, I’ve been an avid user of essential oils for everything from head tension to digestive issues to skincare. Recently, I’ve started incorporating them into my workouts and the results speak for themselves – more energy, harder workout sessions, and faster recovery times. A total skeptic at first, these oils have become a staple in my daily life and that is something that I want to share with the world!


My current top five favorite oils and supplements (all Young Living of course!):


  • Peppermint Oil

    • Benefits: Known to help support performance during exercise and help promote healthy respiratory function.

    • Pre-Workout: Place a drop behind the ears to re-energize and invigorate. Bonus – peppermint oil is also very cooling so it’s the perfect oil to reach for during the summer months!

  • Panaway

    • Benefits: Can be used to alleviate discomfort during and after a workout.

    • Pre/Post-Workout: Massage onto a muscle or joint to increase circulation, decrease muscle soreness, and speed up recovery time. Bonus – panaway has a cooling effect! (This is my absolute favorite oil for working out because it helps decrease my recovery time which means I can train harder and more often).

    • Main Ingredients: Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, Peppermint

  • Deep Relief Roll-on

    • Benefits: Provides a refreshing, cooling sensation pre and post workout and is great for alleviating muscle discomfort on the go.

    • Pre/Post-Workout: Apply on temples or back of neck for an energizing boost. Roll on to fatigued muscles to ease muscle pain and promote a faster recovery.

    • Ingredients: Peppermint, Idaho Balsam Fir, Clove, Vetiver, Wintergreen, Lemon, Helichrysum, Copaiba

  • Ningxia Nitro

    • Benefits: Known to enhance physical performance, improve focus, and lift mental fog. The perfect, natural alternative to sugary, caffeinated energy drinks. Bonus – it tastes good!

    • Pre-Workout: Use in place of traditional pre-workout supplements for a natural (and healthy!) energy boost that lasts throughout your workout

  • Sulfurzyme

    • Benefits: Supports recovery time and helps decrease inflammation associated with exercise and overall joint health.

    • Pre/Post-Workout: Take twice daily for best results.
